Complete Guide to the Pterodactyl Panel
Pterodactyl is the web panel used to manage a hosting instance. This guide covers the everyday workflow: open the right server, configure its runtime, transfer files, start it and diagnose errors without changing infrastructure settings.
1. Open the correct server
After creating an instance through the consolex1 Discord flow, sign in to panel.consolex1.com and select that server. Confirm its name and allocation before changing settings or uploading files.
2. Review startup settings
Open the Startup tab and check the selected egg, runtime version, entry file and any required variables. Use the runtime that matches the project; avoid changing values you do not recognize.
3. Transfer project files
Use the panel file manager for small edits or SFTP for larger uploads. Include the source and dependency manifests, but do not upload local caches or virtual environments unless a project specifically needs them.
4. Configure secrets safely
Set tokens and private configuration in the panel’s environment settings when supported. Do not paste secrets into public files, screenshots, support messages or logs.
5. Start and inspect the console
Start the server and watch the live console from the beginning of the startup sequence. Resolve the first actionable error, such as a missing file or dependency, before responding to later errors that may be consequences.
6. Protect files and data
The Free plan does not include automated backups. Keep an independent copy of source code and important data, and verify that a restore works before relying on a backup.
